Zambrano - Texas Association for Pupil Transportation

Fernando Zambrano
Assistant Director of Transportation, Human Resources
Cypress-Fairbanks ISD
I currently serve as the Assistant Director of Transportation, Human Resources for Cypress-Fairbanks ISD, located in northwest Houston. I have a total of fifteen years’ experience in human resources in a school district setting, with eight of those years being in transportation. I obtained my CDL in 2020, to help me better understand where our employees come from when incidents arise, and to better serve as their advocate.
I have worked with children/students for over thirty years, not only in education, but also in the non-profit realm and the corporate world. These experiences have helped mold me into who I am today, as decisions are made with the safety, well-being, and best interests of our students in mind.
I have been involved in TAPT since 2017, when I started in the industry, and obtained my TAPT official certification in the summer of 2022.  I began interning TAPT courses in 2023 and started instructing TAPT courses in 2024.
In addition to my TAPT official certification, my education background includes a BA in psychology and an MA in counseling. Most recently, I have started taking TASBO courses to continue in my commitment to lifelong learning.
For the 2025-2026 school year, I am serving as the historian for the Gulf Coast Association for Pupil Transportation (GCAPT), a chapter of TAPT.  I have enjoyed meeting so many amazing individuals across Regions IV and VI who demonstrate a passion for our industry.
On a personal level, I enjoy spending time with family and friends, meeting new people and making new connections, and taking time to better myself spiritually, mentally and physically. In November of 2025, I had the privilege of becoming a grandfather to a perfect little boy, Zayd.
