Jackie Ivicic
Director of Transportation
Jarrell ISD
Director of Transportation
Jarrell ISD
My Name is
Jackie K. Ivicic and I am seeking the position
with Texas Association of Pupil Transportation as the Area 4 Director.
The year 2020
has been challenging for all of us with having to deal with the rules and
regulations concerning COVID. I knew it
was real, however just how real was it, a question I am sure that has crossed everyone’s
mind once or twice. I can assure you
that COVID is real and effects people so differently. I have been married to my amazing husband Jeff
Ivicic for 34 years and over the summer we both tested positive for COVID. He had no symptoms what so ever and you
guessed it… I was not as lucky. I was on life support for 2 weeks and
paralyzed from neck down for 2 additional weeks. I am so very thankful to be
alive and given the chance to spend more time with him, my four beautiful
children and eight precious grandbabies.
I am back at work and look forward to facing as many adventures as I can
and hoping that the Area 4 Director’s position will be one of them.
Over 20
years ago I started my career in Transportation at Florence ISD where I got to
meet and work with the amazing Steve Batchelor.
I still remember Steve talking
about how awesome being a bus driver was.
I’m still laughing as I remember those words. Within weeks, to be honest almost immediately
I fell in love with driving the Big Yellow School Bus. I enjoyed seeing each of
the smiling faces that boarded the bus every morning, and made it my mission to
make sure that all of them had smiles when they got off the bus. Little did I know what an amazing career I
was about to embark on.
Over the
next 10 years I became a member with TAPT and began working towards my
Officials and Master Officials Certifications. In 2014 I obtained my Officials Certification
and then a year later in 2015 I received my Masters Officials (Now known as Transportation
Administrator). I am currently teaching the
Texas School Bus Driver Recertification & Certification Course and Evaluation
of Transportation for TAPT. I look
forward to attending the TAPT Conferences in person and hopefully not virtual and
get to meet with all the amazing people around the State of Texas. I have found that every person is willing to
share their knowledge and help in any way they can. I have never met so many
passionate, dedicated and kind individuals.
I am proud
to have served as the Heart of Texas TAPT President and ex-officio and I am the
Transportation Director for Jarrell ISD going on 10 years now. I believe that with my organizational
abilities along with my multitasking strengths that I would be able to perform
the duties as required to be the Area 4 Director for TAPT. Whether I am voted as the Area 4 Director or
not, I will continue to be an advocate for TAPT.
I believe
that through God any and all things are possible.
God Bless
& Safe Travels
