Assistant Director of Transportation
Leander ISD
My name is Tracie Franco. I entered the exciting world of Transportation in August of 2008.  I began as a driver for general education and moved to Special Needs my second year. By my third year I had achieved the position of Team Lead, which, in Leander, is a first line supervisor role. I came in as a Special Needs Team Lead and held that position for three years.  During my time as a Team Lead, I was introduced to TAPT and the classes they offered.  Once I began attending their classes offered for continuous education, I knew I wanted to be a part of the team.  I was in awe of the amount of knowledge the instructors held and the professionalism they stood for and represented.  I bought in 100%.  At the end of my third year as a Team Lead, I was able to enter into our Routing Department and was able to be exposed to a whole new side of Transportation at that point. It was challenging and pushed me to really expand my Transportation knowledge and understanding.  During my three years as a Special Needs Router, I continued to attend classes through TAPT.  I was able to earn my TAPT Official Certification which was a huge component to my next career advancement of Assistant Director.  Currently, I have held this role for five years.  I am continuing to learn and hone my leadership skills to one day help me achieve my goal of being a Transportation Director.

On a personal note.  I have two children, a 16-year-old son and an 8-year-old daughter.  I have lived here in the Austin area for about 15 years.   Some of my hobbies are just simply hanging out with my kids.  They are very entertaining at times and we love to laugh.  I enjoy going to see movies in a theater and I also enjoy photography.  My professional goals include earning my bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, earning my Master Official with TAPT, become a Director of Transportation and being a part of the TAPT Executive Committee to serve people.  A personal goal is to buy my own house and raise independent healthy kids able to be successful adults.
