Behr - Texas Association for Pupil Transportation

Cassandra Behr
Director of Transportation
Hays CISD

Dear TAPT Members,
My name is Cassandra Behr and I am running to be your 2025-2026 TAPT Historian. I started in transportation 22 years ago while in College Station. Like many others, I started driving the bus because I wanted to get my foot in the door with a district. My goal was to become a science teacher and why not start getting practice working with students early on. However, I fell in love with the yellow buses – the department, the people – it was unlike anything that I had ever been apart of. My hunger to learn more and take on more responsibility within the department grew. After leaving College Station ISD, I moved to a few districts, always continuing to grow and take on larger responsibilities and jobs. Through my advancements with different school districts I have learned new things and left with additional skills and some wonderful friendships. I am currently the Director at Hays CISD Transportation and have been part of this amazing district since July 2022.
I have had the privilege to serve as the Regular Ed Road-e-o chair/co-chair for the past 8 years. Working with Road-e-o has allowed me to help showcase the best of the best each and every year. Being part of Road-e-o has also taught me how to adapt to changes quickly, be a little more go with the flow, and to be more comfortable public speaking.
I want to continue to be part of the TAPT Executive committee because I want to help share my knowledge and excite others to be part of the organization. I have found some of the best mentors and friends because of the Transportation Family and TAPT. I want to represent Central Texas and be a voice for the next generation of TAPT.
Respectfully,
Cassandra Behr
